How do I remove leaked content from Telegram or Discord?

With chat apps, the first question isn't who owns the content. It's whether the place you found it is public. Telegram is explicit about this, and it decides whether you have a route at all.

Telegram

Telegram's FAQ draws the line clearly:

Its terms also ban posting illegal pornographic content on publicly viewable channels and bots. A message link from a public channel is what you need to send. Put your six notice elements in the email, with one link per post.

Discord

Discord's guidelines ban sharing sexually explicit content of other people without their consent, including the non-consensual distribution of intimate media. They also ban content that violates anyone's intellectual property, and ask you to report what breaks the rules. For copyright, its terms point to a separate Copyright and IP Policy, linked from the terms page.

Discord also discourages vigilantism. So don't go into a server to confront anyone: report it and keep your record.

Why these need more follow-up

My plans list DMCA notices to sites and hosts, and I can't reach a private group any more than you can. If the links are public, send them to me and I'll tell you what's realistic.

Under 18, or the images were taken when you were under 18? Don't send them to anyone, me included. Take It Down, run by NCMEC, works from your own device: your file stays there and only a digital fingerprint is shared with participating platforms.

General information, not legal advice. I'm not a lawyer and Abolita is not a law firm. Checked against the linked sources on 6 November 2026.

Quick answers

My content is in a private Telegram group. What can I do?

Telegram's FAQ says it doesn't process requests about private groups and chats, and I can't get around that. What you can still act on is anything public: file host links, public copies and search results.

Who can email Telegram about copyright?

Telegram says only the copyright owner or an authorized agent should send requests to dmca@telegram.org, about public bots, channels, sticker sets or other public content.
