My content was re-posted on Patreon or leaked from it. What now?

These are two separate problems that sound like one. Either someone is posting your work on their own Patreon page, or a patron took what you posted on yours and put it somewhere else. Only the first is a report to Patreon.

Someone else's Patreon page has your work

Patreon's copyright policy takes compliant notices through its form or by email to its designated agent at copyright@patreon.com. For stored material it points to 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), so your notice needs the six standard elements. Give the link to each post.

Know this before you send it: Patreon says it may pass on the complaint's contents, including your name and contact details, to the user who posted the material. It suggests using an agent if you don't want your details shared that way. An agent doesn't make you invisible, as this page explains.

The same policy includes a repeat infringer policy, so if one account has several of your posts, report them all.

A patron leaked your Patreon posts

Here Patreon isn't holding the copy, so a notice to it has nothing to remove. Your notice goes to wherever the copy now lives: start with this order of steps.

What Patreon's terms give you is a clear position on the facts:

So a paying member didn't buy the right to re-post. That's useful when someone argues they paid for it. It still doesn't mean Patreon can take the copy off a different site.

Other platforms

Patreon publishes this clearly enough that I can quote it. I haven't quoted other subscription platforms' terms here because I couldn't read them directly when I checked, so read your own platform's terms for its wording. The rights come from you making the work in any case.

Quick answers

Can Patreon remove my leak from another site?

Not as far as its copyright policy goes: that process deals with material stored on Patreon. A copy on another site needs a notice to that site or its host.

Will the person I report see my details?

They may. Patreon says it may pass on the contents of a complaint, including your name and contact information, to the user who posted the material.
