How do I remove leaked content from Reddit?
Your content on Reddit gets its own copyright notice. Reddit's User Agreement says you can notify its designated agent through its Copyright Report Form or by contacting its copyright agent at copyright@reddit.com, and points to the US statute for what a proper notice needs.
What to include
The same six elements as any DMCA notice. For Reddit, that means:
- the link to each post, not the subreddit or the user's profile
- a link to your original post, so the work is identified
- your contact details and signature, plus the good-faith and accuracy statements
The full list and a template are in how a DMCA takedown works.
What happens next
Reddit says it removes infringing material, can terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, and will notify the user whose content it removed. That user can send a counter-notice. Reddit also warns that knowingly misrepresenting an infringement can leave you liable for costs and damages, so check each link is really yours first.
What a removed post doesn't fix
- Links to outside hosts. If the post only links to a file host or leak site, the file lives elsewhere and needs its own notice.
- Google results. A deleted post can linger in search. Use the outdated content route.
- Reposts. Each new post is a new link and a new notice, which is what weekly re-scans are for.
Other Reddit rules that may apply
Reddit Rule 3 says never to post or threaten to post intimate or sexually explicit media of someone without their consent, and Rule 5 bars impersonating someone. These are separate from copyright, and they can matter when the content isn't yours to claim or an account is pretending to be you. Rule 4 bans sexual content involving minors.
For intimate images, see also the TAKE IT DOWN Act guide.
Under 18, or the images were taken when you were under 18? Don't send them to anyone, me included. Take It Down, run by NCMEC, works from your own device: your file stays there and only a digital fingerprint is shared with participating platforms.

Quick answers
Will the Reddit user know I reported them?
Reddit says that if it removes content in response to a copyright notice, it will notify the user. Assume they'll learn a notice was filed.
Can I report a whole subreddit?
A notice has to identify the infringing material with enough detail to find it, so give the link to each post. Reddit has its own repeat-infringer policy, but that's Reddit's decision, not something a notice can demand.
